who's ryan ross??
Chapter 11
He was Cameron's medical proxy?
Since two years ago? That was when she'd met him. His ego thought she'd picked him because of her blantantly obvious crush. His mind told him that while Cameron might have been in love with him, she was an intelligent human being who must have had another reason.
His pager went off. Cameron was up. House quickly limped to her hospital room.
"Let me guess," he said as she began to open her mouth. "You feel like crap right now."
"Not the words I would have chosen, but accurate enough." House pushed away an uneaten tray of food to sit on the end of her bed.
"Why am I your medical proxy?" He asked. Beatin around the bush was not something House was particularly good at.
"I wanted the best doctor I knew in charge of my health," she said, "and you were it." Cameron used the control to sit her bed up. "I'm just lucky I never needed a proxy." House nodded.
"Do you love me?" Cameron asked, out of the blue. House took a quick breath, as if someone had punched him in the stomach. When Stacey had asked him that, it'd lead to her almost leaving him.
Stacey came out of their bedroom, dressed in a dark purple strapless gown. They were going to the Christmas part at her law firm. House hated those parties, but Stacey always insisted that it was an important part of her job. So he buttoned himself into that stiff, cologne-scented tuxedo and went. Plus, there was always a very nice bribe involved.
A very nice bribe.
"You look... nice," House gulped. It didn't really begin to cover it. Stacey smiled, her teardrop earrings twinkling in the incandescents.
"You ready to go?" She asked.
"Uh, yeah." He regained his composure.
"Then what are you waiting for?" she asked.
That really was one spectacular dress.

Chapter 12
They were seated in a corner table for dinner. The food was elaborate and mediocre, and was mostly left uneaten.
"Let's dance, Greg," Stacey said, setting her fork down and pushing the still-full bowl of mint lobster bisque away from her.
"You know I..." But Stacey had already pulled him to his feet. The band was playing soft, slow music, and lots of couples were swaying on the darkened dance floor.
Stacey dragged him out and pulled him to her. House began to relax. Stacey always led the way when they danced.
"This isn't too bad, is it?" Stacey asked. Their lips met.
"It could be worse," House said.
"Oh, give it up," Stacey ordered playfully. They kissed again, this time for a bit longer.
The party was over much more quickly than usual. They went home. Now, it was Stacey's turn to pick up her end of the deal.
They locked the door to the apartment behind them. House leaned in, pushing their mouths together.
"Will you let me take my makeup off?" Stacey giggled.
"Nope." House fumbled with her zipper, and the dress fell to the floor. Soon, his clothes had too. They made their way to their room and onto the bed, overheated and excited.
"I love you," Stacey panted. House was silent.
"Greg?"
"Mm?" Still breathing hard.
"Do you love me?"
"I live with you."
"But do you love me?" When he didn't answer again, Stacey pulled herself away.
"Are you just using me?" she asked dangerously.
"No."
"That's what this is called if you don't love me."
"I'm not using you." House hated himself. Why couldn't he just tell her he loved her? Stacey gave him a look that could freeze fire and got up, throwing on some clothes.
"I can't..." she sputtered, hot tears falling from her eyes.
But the next day she was back. He knew she wouldn' leave for good. He just knew it.
"I love you," House told Cameron. He was shocked at how easily the words left his tongue.
Because he was sure they were true this time.

Chapter 13
"I love you too," she said, and leaned in. They kissed for several seconds, and when Cameron pulled away, she had tears running down her cheeks.
"Am I that bad a kisser?" House asked. Cameron shook her head.
"It just scares me to think that.. there was a chance I never would have touched you again." House wiped a tear off her cheek with his thumb.
"I could adjust to a life as a necrophiliac," he told her softly. She laughed, tears still overflowing in her eyes.
"Yeah, but I wouldn't know if you were cheating."
"On such a beautiful corpse? No way. Just make me a promise."
"Anything," Cameron said, leftover mascara making a map on her face.
"Next time we have sex, don't cough blood on me."
"There's a sentence I never thought I would hear," she said. House caught her lips again and held them, running his tongue along her teeth until they parted.
"I missed you," Cameron murmured.
"I missed you too," House responded. Another thing he'd never been able to say to Stacey.

Chapter 14
Cameron eventually fell asleep. Somehow, Clinic looked good to House. Idiocy could be refreshing.
"I've got the runs," an older man with a Southern accent and a littany of annoying facial tics announced in exam room 2. House was rolling a tongue depressor around in his mouth.
"How fascinating." Still rolling that tongue depressor.
"And I've been having stomach pain. Do... do you think they're connected somehow?" House snorted, trying his best not to burst out in inapropriate laughter.
"Do you need a drink?" the man asked sharply. House shook his head and sucked harder on the wooden stick in his mouth.
"And I've been getting headaches too," The man continued.
"Hmm. I'm going to get you something that can help with both. I'll be right back." House got up and went to the pharmacy.
"Ten dose bottle of liquid Ibuprofen and a twenty dose bottle of liquid Immodium," He requested, accepting them from the guy behind the counter. He poured them both into a stool sample bottle at the Clinic main desk and went back to the exam room.
"Take two teaspoons of this every six to eight hours," He instructed, handing the mint-green mixture to the man.
"Thank you." The patient left, looking sincerely ungrateful.
House was really looking forward to getting a longer-term patient again. And he wouldn't have to wait long.

Chapter 15
It had long ago become dark. House had fallen asleep in his office, claiming he had work to do but really just not wanting to be far from Cameron. Foreman and Chase were home, but it wasn't like they did much at work anyway. Neither saw House much anymore, and they didn't have a patient. They were both becoming quite the experts on Sudoku, however.
Cuddy had probably changed her clothes a million times. There was a mountain of filmy blouses and pencil skirts on her hardwood floor. She was pacing the bedroom in her panties and bra, hair and makeup done. She was just looking for something to wear to go out with friends. This shouldn't be that hard, d*mmit! But she felt bloated. Nothing fit right.
Had it worked?
It couldn't have. It was the first time. The doctors had said...
But as she put on her grey wool skirt and it felt tight, her heart skipped a beat. She, of all people, should know that doctors were sometimes wrong.
She finally threw on a denim skirt and black-and-white blouse, her roomiest clothes. And on her way to the restaraunt, she stopped by the drugstore.
But what were the odds?
Obviously high enough to buy a pregnancy test.
